Following John Egan’s serious injury, Phil Parkinson has returned to the North East to sign Curtis Good on loan from Newcastle to bolster his thinbare defensive options. Good is a 19-year-old Australian who was signed by The Magpies for $600,000 in the summer, after 25 appearances for Melbourne Heart. For a club that likes to dish out long-term contracts (manager Alan Pardew signed up for eight years) the six-year deal Good signed would suggest he is highly thought of by Newcastle.
Good has also played for Australia under 20s, and goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s trek to Bristol Rovers, along with fellow new arrival Blair Turgott.
Meanwhile former City skipper Guy Branston will face the Bantams on Saturday after joining Bristol Rovers on loan.
