Well here we are again. The charity case that is Bradford City have made yet another donation to a side who couldn’t buy a win prior to facing the Bantams. This time, in the shape of Sutton United.
Sutton had lost 12 games from 15 in the league, conceding 35 goals in the process. They were and still are rock bottom of the Football League. Unlike MK Dons, Sutton are not a good side in a false position. They are struggling and 24th in League Two for a reason. Forgive me for stating the obvious, but this was a must win game.
But win we did not and win we never looked like doing.
Aside from a ten minute spell in and around Andy Cook’s 57th minute equaliser, this was bad. Really bad. Not MK Dons bad, but that’s hardly saying a lot given that was City’s worst performance for many a year.
There was nothing positive to come out of that game this afternoon. The fact that a second successive desperate performance and result will no doubt pile the pressure on Ryan Sparks to actually make a decision on the managerial vacancy may be a small plus point. But it shouldn’t take a hiding and a loss to the worst team in the country to inject some urgency into the process.
Of course, caretaker boss Kevin McDonald had been providing good results in his first four games. But it feels, to me at least, that Sparks has been riding his own managerial bounce. I’m not sure Sparks knows what he wants and had maybe hoped that McDonald would make the decision for him just as Trueman and Sellars had done back in 2020. One thing is for sure – it’s patently clear that there is no succession planning at this football club. Otherwise we wouldn’t be waiting three weeks and counting for a new manager to arrive.
It becomes particularly frustrating when you see a young, talented coach in Mike Williamson be appointed by MK Dons almost immediately after they despatched of Graham Alexander. A manager who I had as first choice for the hot seat at Valley Parade but a manager who was not even approached by the City hierarchy. Two wins from three, seven goals scored in two games and one of the most impressive opposition performances against City that I can remember. Early days of course, but it looks like a shrewd appointment.
For balance, Tranmere Rovers and Gillingham are in the same boat as the Bantams and without a permanent manager. But I’m not sure the club second bottom and the lowest scorers in the division are comparisons that would hold any credibility.
Talking of a new manager bounce, I think we can say McDonald’s is most probably over. The last two performances have been night and day from the opening four and the “reaction” that McDonald craved this afternoon failed to arrive.
He was boosted by having Richie Smallwood and Jamie Walker back and available and also elected to bring in Matty Platt to replace Ash Taylor. Bobby Pointon was unfortunately rested as Clarke Oduor got the nod on the right.
As it turned out, this mattered very little. Neither Smallwood or Walker could have any influence on the game in a contest that failed to see any City player reach the levels they had done last weekend. Platt, to his credit, was very good against an awkward Harry Smith. That was until his afternoon was cut short through injury. It is to be hoped that the injury is not serious as he would be a significant miss.
Taylor deputised ok this afternoon in a game that suited him perfectly. As he did last week, he coped with the aerial bombardment that Sutton threw at us and defended his box well. However, as we saw on Tuesday and on the opening day at Crawley, it’s a different story when the opposition actually play football.
In an uneventful first half, the damage was done with only four minutes on the clock. Liam Ridehalgh was outmuscled on the initial throw in and Josh Coley got caught on Smallwood’s blind side and played in behind City’s defensive line. One on one with Harry Lewis, he squeezed the ball home at the near post.
City’s response was non existent. In fact, the hosts could have gone further ahead if Omar Sowunmi’s free header had some direction to it. The first half ultimately ended with City failing to register a single shot.
The second period brought about a marginally improved performance. Cook, who up to that point, had another quiet afternoon met Clarke Oduor’s corner at the back post to head into an empty net as home keeper Dean Bouzanis was caught flapping.
With the momentum in their favour, City then began to put some pressure on their hosts. Cook latched onto Ben Goodliffe’s short back pass but was indecisive when facing Bouzanis and the Aussie keeper eventually managed to grab a hold of the ball. Cook then saw a fierce volley come rattling off the crossbar following a spell of pin ball in the Sutton box.
But that spell of pressure was short lived as the contest returned to a scrappy affair soon after. Undoubtedly that suited Sutton, whose style of play is very much about making the game a battle rather than a footballing contest. Ultimately City paid the price for failing to maintain an attacking mentality. Five minutes left on the clock and Harry Beautyman leapt over substitute Bobby Pointon to nod home Craig Clay’s right wing cross.
We all know that goals are the hardest thing to come by in football and it seems for Bradford City, it is the same tale every year. This season, City have scored just 17 goals in 16 games, with four coming in a single game. Take the Newport game out of it and it’s 13 goals in 15 games – less than a goal a game. Only twice in those 16 games have City scored more than one goal. That is a truly pitiful record. Effectively it means that if City concede, the best they can hope for is a draw. They aren’t the hallmarks of a successful side by any stretch of the imagination.
So where does that leave us? Each passing game throws more credence to the opinion that this City squad isn’t good enough for promotion. There’s far too many holes and far too many squad fillers who just aren’t up to it. We don’t need to name names, I think we’re all unanimous in who they are. Stephen Gent is coming in for plenty of flack on social media for his part in assembling this squad. As the Head of Recruitment, the responsibility ultimately lies with him and it’s hard to argue against. “Leaner and meaner” was the phrase used by Sparks in pre season. A squad of 30+ is not leaner and I think we can all agree it certainly isn’t meaner. His latest comment in the press that certain City players see themselves as League One level or higher is laughable.
I do feel for McDonald. Signed as a player, he stepped up when the club needed him but is now the only one fronting questions about City’s current state and lack of permanent manager. This isn’t what he signed up for. There is a growing discontent with Sparks on social media and most of the criticism is not without merit. It would be unfair to ignore the strides made on the commercial side of the business by him and Commercial Director David Longo, but his footballing decisions have not worked out. If we include the contract extension he handed to Stuart McCall, all four that he has appointed have failed in their objective of promotion.
His reputation hangs on getting this one right because I’m not sure he can get away with a fifth failure.

Another poor result today,
Personally if I was Rupp I would be on the phone to David Baldwin this week offering him what ever it takes to come back to Bradford City. I would give him the job of rebuilding the club top down and and employing a new manager. If Rupp wants out maybe Baldwin can help in the search for new owners like he’s done recently for Huddersfield if he’s willing to accept a realistic price for the club.
To me the problems run so much deeper than the manager at the club.
We haven’t had a plan or a long term strategy for a long long time in my humble opinion.
Rupp has to put the club up for sale publicly. Sparkes and Rupp now need to grow some and be available for interviews and talk to supporter’s about plans. Poor Mcdonald is the only one coming out to the press.
How does this gets 3 thumbs down? Absolute spot on.
Said it before I I will say it again. Until we supporters protest to the owner that a change in approach is needed then we will get what we have got. (I’ve been shot down for this suggestion on here as we apparently have Aa great owner?) No football knowledge or experience at the top. Hence no progress on the grass . RS biggest issue is his mate DL is seemingly damn good at his marketing job so RS either has to sack his mate and replace him or step aside and let a CEO or DoF run the club and make key decisions. Issuing contracts left right and centre and loans everywhere has left us with the biggest squad we’ve ever had in club’s history. . He’s blagged us in pre season with leaner and meaner comments, when will he admit to misleading the squad players at that time? The fans and owner on this one? Comes on to interviews like there is no panic everyone needs to calm down I’ve got this etc but in reality we are in an absolute mess still (again) on his watch. Rupp is ultimately the one who hires for that role so he needs his greatest asset (the fans) to raise the issue. But we won’t as we subconsciously accept mediocrity unlike other fanbases in the region. We’ve got what we’ve got because we accept what is given to us. Until this changes then nothing will.
We need change from top to bottom. New ownership and fresh perspective. Ryan Sparkes must also take lots of responsibility, he just hasnt been able to bring in the right manager and create a identity to the style of play with a manager. How can smaller clubs at this level get promoted with no where near the budget we have?…. stop signing these 30year old and above player’s. Build a team with youth and get a identity into the club
QPR manager has been sacked. Gareth Ainsworth would be a good match for City
I think we are lucky to have Rupp as a chairman because there are a lot worse out there! There is obviously something wrong at City, but he isn’t milking it and the only thing I can think he is guilty of is being too hands off (usually the criticism is the opposite). I am reminded of an interview with Alan Sugar where he was asked about any regrets he may have when at Spurs. he said he trusted the manager too much.
We have a great stadium, prices, pitch and players budget. if we are not happy with the budget is it time to pay more? I hear fans / players / management talking about what a big club we are but in reality we are a Wetherspoons club and higher season tickets prices would not mean a higher budget, because I suspect many fans would no longer be CTID.
There actually isn’t a “board”. The only statutory directors are Stefan Rupp and Company Secretary Alan Biggins (good guy for 30 plus years). Ryan is the third declared member, but is not a statutory director.
Have thought this for some time. How can an organisation with the turnover it has be run by an absent owner, a company secretary and an over-promoted social media intern?
It’s an absolute disgrace. Where are these supporter’s groups who have direct links to Sparkes etc. Shouldn’t they be making some noise
There are no effective supporter groups now.
The Supporters Board is effectively controlled by the club. The Supporters Trust is now really only Manny and kept at arms length by the club. Friends of Bradford City exist in name only.
I believe the Supporters Trust is looking for new people to get involved and would probably welcome with open arms anyone who believes they can change it for the better.
https://www.bantamstrust.co.uk/how-to-get-involved-in-the-trust
A word of warning though, rightly or wrongly, I very much doubt the people running BCFC have any interest in supporters beyond being consumers or fundraisers, so you might find yourself being very disappointed.
Time is up for the Rupp apologists
We either get a new owner or we are heading for non league sooner or later
LOL!! I’m neutral on Rupp, but the abuse he gets his hilarious.
Have you forgotten that he put his hand in his pocket to help us through Covid?
What great owners are we looking up to? Those of Darlington, Bury and Scunthorpe of the past? Perhaps we could get Hartlepool’s chairman to take over!!
I’m afraid we’re a League 2 club and until we get someone to get us promoted, we’re always going to see everything as a failure.
I’ll take Rupp any day, than a lot of the superficial owners, some of the other clubs have. Or do you think Lim will keep pumping money into Salford forever?
Be very careful what you wish for.
I have no ill feeling towards Rupp, but this constant comment about him keeping us afloat during covid is laughable. As the owner it was his DUTY to keep his business afloat thats the whole point of company ownership. I kept my own company afloat during covid, do I deserve a medal too? It wasnt some selfless act of his, it was to make sure his investment didnt die.
Me too – I’m neutral on him – he’s not a great owner of the club- but he is providing very competetive budgets at this level and helping keep the club afloat.
I do feel if he were more hands-on and interested, Sparkes would have gone along time ago. That’s the real issue.
But as there’s no long queue of prospective buyers forming and there’s no obvious replacement for Sparkes we are where we are.
To anyone trying to force Rupp out though – it’s a bit like watching your neighbours put their house on the market and celebrating cos it gets rid of the noisy dog / kids – only find out the new neighbours are chavs. Better the devil you know.
Could we have a better owner? Unlikely unless a Ryan Reynolds turns up.
We were a league 1 team when he took over, being told by our former owner that they had funds to fund us at championship level. He can’t even fund a league 2 team…lies
I wrote a very similar post just over a month ago and the “thumbs vote” was 50/50
Wonder if the tide has turned?
Petition to have Adam Raj wrote all WOAP pieces. Details on request.
This was a joke btw, no need to get your downvoting thumbs in a twist lads. I just like the cut of Adam’s jib
Completely agree Adam, especially on the points about the delay in appointing a new manager. Was Sparks hoping that McDonald would make himself such an overwhelming and obvious choice that he wouldn’t have to risk any of his – admittedly already low – credibility by having to make a decision on a new man? (If McDonald kept winning then who could question appointing him, or criticise Sparks if it then went wrong?)
Hughes was sacked on 4th October and was teetering for at least two weeks before that. It’s obvious now that we sacked him without a plan for what came next. A professional club would have been thinking through, if not specific candidates, then the type of appointment they might want to make. Those who think there is a malaise at the top of the club are being given more and more evidence for their argument.
(And we are nowhere near good enough to go up, that was obvious when the transfer window closed and we were left with obvious quality issues in key positions. This appointment is about getting us prepped for next season and hopefully finishing the season with a bit of optimism for when it arrives.)
The first part of the article is nonsense the the idea is to get the right manager in if it takes a bit more time so be it. Until this week everybody was on the Mac bandwagon after a great few matches there was no rush to appoint then.
If it takes time to find the right manager so be it. Then for once we have to give that manager proper time to build a side capable of sustained success something we seem incapable of.
Sparkes hasn’t got a good cv in bringing in managers. I wouldn’t trust him again. Time for new owners
You could argue that at virtually every club. Let’s remember that Lawn and Rhodes got it right after failing for four seasons and three managerial appointments.
Very few clubs CEO’s have a record of better than 1 in 3 success rate.
100% agree.
Adams a great success before abd achieving again now. And Hughes that 99% of the fan base greeted with enthusiasm and judging by other teams message boards they were envious of us. It’s time for managers to stand up and be counted and live up to their records and reputations. There failure was not down to Sparks he gave them the budgets to achieve
S
Adam seems to think that it was obvious that Williamson was the solution, based on what – him getting two wins in his first two games. Are your really telling us that a new manager can be so influential that they have that kind of alchemy effect? Or perhaps MK Dons were amongst the pre-season promotion favourites for a reason and had underachieved.
Williamson plays a similar style, probably a bit more front foot, than Hughes. But apparently Sparks should repeated the same mistakes he made with tha last two appointments and have gone for the best looking manager that was available.
What’s actually wrong with for the first time in decades, the club taking their time, researching, and making sure we get a manager that can get a tune out of this talented squad? (there are very good players in our squad, they just need coaching, i.e. Tomkinson and Richards playing – so we at least have some pace at the back)
One thing I do agree with, is that this is Sparks ‘last chance saloon’. So thank goodness, for once, he’s not been bounced into making hasty decisions – by some of our baying fans.
So, it will be a new manager, then. It has to be, after the two defeats. Whoever it is, I can’t see him getting too much of an improvement out of this bloated and unbalanced squad. I winced every time we gave out a three-year contract. So far not one of them has been remotely justified and a couple have been ludicrous. Anybody would think the man at the top didn’t know what he was doing and the recruiting officer was no judge of a player! We have got some difficult fixtures coming up and it’s not hard to imagine the new manager getting off to an indifferent start – without the bounce we’ve already had. I’m afraid it could all get a shade acrimonious. Hope as ever springs eternal. Maybe there is a manager available who possesses the required qualities to create a decent team out of these 27 players. None of the names I’ve heard bandied about fills me with too much confidence, alas. And by the way – a team is only as
good as its keeper. Results for both Hughes and McDonald could have been very different without the goalkeeping errors. Lewis was beaten at the near post for one yesterday and by a softish header for the other. I have a feeling last year he might have saved one or the other – or both.
A failing club from top to bottom. We are in the same position now as when Ryan Sparks walked through the door 3 years ago. No progress whatsoever. We would not be in this position if Ryan had picked Wellens or Evans last year instead of picking Mark Hughes because he liked “the big name”. The guy needs to be sacked or moved on
Which Wellens? The three clubs where he was sacked
Shambles
I don’t think any of this is on Sparks.
As frustrated as I am with the results and performances during his reign, few of us argued against any of his appointments.
I wasn’t too keen on Adams as I don’t like his style of play, but I was convinced he’d get us promoted so I was behind the decision… then when Hughes was appointed, I was as shocked as anybody and immediately thought he’d bring in a lot of higher league players and we’d be hammering teams on our way to successive promotions.
So, I can’t hold Sparks responsible for hiring a serial promotion winner, and for thinking big (and outside the box) to go for MH.
Sadly though, this mess is down to Hughes. Despite saying the right things like he would play attacking football, and press teams from first to last minute, to create more chances and score more goals…
His signings and tactical decisions have contradicted that.
I mean:
You intend to play attacking football so why have 6 central defenders in the squad? … and why select so many defence-minded players (6-7) in the first 11.
You want to build from the back, so why sign defenders who can’t pass the ball?
You want to press from first to last minute… then why do we have so many over-30’s players who lack the stamina to do that?
Signing McDonald was a bizarre one… my wife has a kidney transplant, so I know how serious a condition it is. She has to take plenty of medication daily to suppress her immune system, so her body doesn’t reject the kidney. She’s under permanent doctor’s instructions to not exert herself or exercise too much etc.
Therefore, he was only ever gonna be a bit-part player. I’ve got nothing against him, but as signings go… and the fact you supposedly want legs to press for 90 minutes… then wouldn’t the money have been better spent on someone else?
As for attacking… I mean, East looked good whenever he played and he’s always trying to play a forward pass. Last year, the game Smallwood missed where Gilliead captained the team… East joined him in midfield with Clayton, and we were sensational that day and created a lot of chances… with East MotM.
Next game, East is back on the bench. Meanwhile, this season he leaves on loan to make room for McDonald!
Same with Young. MH brings in Tulloch, Afoka, Smith, Wilson & Odour, then loans out Young who has so-far scored 10 in 14, and created 4 assists.
None of those sounded good signings at the time, and their performances haven’t suggested anything to prove otherwise… yet like East, another player who looked good on the rare occasion he got to play, Young has been allowed to leave on loan.
Even the logic behind not playing Pointon seemed odd… because he’s young and making his way into the game… so what was his solution? … he signed two (equally as) young and unproven prospects from WBA & Villa as better options.
This all comes down to Hughes’ signings, not Sparks… who backed him.
And unfortunately, it’s gonna be another massive rebuild job for whoever comes in because there aren’t too many in the squad that I’d keep hold of other than Cook, Walker, Pattison, Chapman, and possibly Smallwood.
You wouldn’t keep hold of Pointon?
Oh yeah I absolutely would… slipped my mind.
I agree, reyno, that Hughes is mainly to blame for the mess we’re in. Sparks, though must shoulder some responsibility for the length of contracts offered to, what have turned out to be, squad fillers. Surely, he had the final say on the terms offered. Those contracts are surely going to restrict any new manager reshaping the squad.
Throw in Gent, for some abysmal “talent spotting’ and we have the sad result of their efforts.
As if things aren’t bad enough, you look at the names being bandied about for the vacant position, and the outlook appears grim.
I’ve been wondering about Gent. He had a good reputation at Boro, and I’m curious to know if any of his suggestions have been considered or whether they were overlooked.
Given the influx of old players since MH came in, for all we know Gent may have been instructed to ignore his ‘top picks’, and instead look for 30+ options.
But there’s definitely not too many players other than Tyreik Wright or Pattison that have been a hit. I guess Young has too, just not with us!
A bit harsh on Halliday (player of the season so far for me) and possibly Stubbs and Pointon but I agree with everything else you say.
Lewis could do with a month bench warming and instruction on where his near post as he’s gone from a match winner last season to a liability.
I too thought Adams and Hughes were the solution so I don’t blame Sparks.
I’m just so despondent at losing to the bottom two year in year out that I’ve cancelled plans to see the FA Cup game. Not in protest but just because I can’t be arsed and that’s not a nice place to be in.
Agree about Halliday, one of those players who’s a steady 7 rating most games.
I just don’t think Halliday is good enough for what we need. I must admit, I think he’s looked better this year and a couple of games he’s been MotM.
He’s the kind of player you want in your team when it’s backs to the walls, and you need to defend for your life.
He’s got heart, and gives it everything… I’m not faulting him as a player or a person, it’s just when you want to press and push forward, then he lacks in quality and he’s also a liability… like he showed against MK Dons the other night. Tomlinson looked a world-beater out on the left… at one point he received a long pass out wide in acres of space, yet Halliday was a mile away on the penalty spot… I think that was one of their goals, but don’t ask me to check as I don’t want to watch it back – EVER!
He doesn’t have the pace, craft, skill, or quality on the ball and more often than not, our attacks break down as a result of him or Ridehalgh (who’s worse).
However, because we’re trying to push forward and attack, and the fact he’s defence-minded, he get’s caught in no mans land a lot as he’s afraid to commit to forward runs which means he’s not much help to the attackers, while his lack of pace prevents him from recovering back in time.
It’s not really his fault because he’s being asked to do something he can’t. Put him in a compact defence and ask him to put in a shift and he will.
For me, the proof is in the pudding. Good attacking teams create a lot of chances out wide, think of any good teams and they have quality full backs, and yet we’ve hardly created anything for years.
Ironically, a few years ago, we had decent full backs like Mellor and even Riley but we were too soft down the middle… now we’re short on ideas out wide which makes us too narrow and easy to defend against as we’re not stretching teams enough.
Spot on! – Rupp has provided the cash and stability, Sparks has grown the business and selected the managers that we all wanted at the time – for me it’s the recruitment that’s the root-cause of this mess. Last season we had a squad that was not-quite good enough to get promoted (although you could argue we would have made it without Hughes’ cautious approach). So all we had to do was bring in 3 or 4 quality signings in the Summer to replace Banks, Critchlow and Wright, and improve the left-back position and perhaps another quality striker to give Cook some competition/ have 2 up front. But instead all logic went out the window and we’ve cobbled together a side that is definitely weaker than last season. Thoroughly depressing stuff!
I couldn’t believe it when I heard Ridehalgh was getting a new contract. I mean it was the FB areas that cost us, and yet instead of looking to upgrade for a faster and more dynamic full back to take us to the next level… he decided to stick with old legs and defensive mindset.
I kind of knew it was gonna be a bad season after that!
The contradiction here, for there are so many, is who signed Wright, Chritchlow and Banks? Gent, and or Sparks, and Hughes. Because they were good signings. As was Lewis. Stubbs. Platt. Halliday. People say Walker. The resigning of Cook the top scorer.
All opinions are currently valid and interesting.
I think Sparks has been guilty of allowing the signing of too many veterans. Even the humble fans were talking about dads army and as an investment its very limited. It must have been very hard to stand up to Hughes but I would imagine that it is part of his job.
Time to give Steve Evans the job (regardless of his past, we need a proved winner).
Agree 👍
No thanks. From the sane Mark Taylor
None of the recent sane managers ever seem to work. Maybe it’s time to roll the dice and bring in Evans
I actually don’t get the Rupp out brigade , whilst not the most influential chairman he is a stable safe pair of hands and should he get an offer then fair enough, for me it’s the recruitment that has been our downfall, our fitness levels leave a lot to be desired, go back to the end of last season we needed replacements for banks and Wright and a solid midfielder, that’s all and we have ended up with about nine nobody’s
This is what cost Hughes is job , was he responsible? We don’t know but whoever comes in ain’t gonna get much of a tune out of this lot including McDonald who looks slow
Unfortunately it looks to me like yet another clear out and start all over again, it beggars belief, and the 15000 faithful just have to sit on their hands yet again and wait for it to happen
Leaner and meaner Ryan ? What a line that was pre season all positive and puffed up ! what a great example of the lack of strategy and cohesion between RS Gent and owner. No football experience between any of them. Gent a few years as a youth loan manager at Boro . (Great)!
Thanks Adam, not sure we’re singing from the same hymn sheet today though.
Firstly, in my opinion, EVERY game Bradford City play is a ‘must win’ game. That’s precisely why when we don’t win, it feels so demoralising.
Let’s be honest, most of us KNOW what a promotion winning side ‘feels’ like, and this side just doesn’t. Alot of us remember how the teams of ’82 ’85 ’96 ’99 & 2013 ‘felt’ like. The current crop just don’t come near to those great sides I’m afraid, but as always with Bradford City, we live in hope rather than reality at times.
That’s not to say is all doom & gloom. Find the right man to manage the side, & things can improve on the field. A new manage now would have plenty of time to assess our current crop ahead of the January window, providing of course the Club are in a position to give him the backing needed.
The Sutton performance was mearly a reflection of were we are just now as a team. Able to beat anyone one week, and equally able to lose to anyone the next.
We still have the FA Cup, & we’re still within sight of those playoff places (thanks to Kevin McDonald), but being realistic, maybe better to put the promotion dream on hold… At least just for now.
Up the Bantams!
If I were the new manager, one of the first things I’d do would be to ring up Derek Adams and ask him to spell out those things he claimed to know and had been unable to speak. The second thing would be to ask Stephen Gent to account for every signing attributable to him. Thirdly, I would want to talk to Ryan Sparks about what I’d concluded from the two conversations. It would be a start.
Of course we need a new manager but the saying “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear” keeps running through my mind. Gent has a lot to answer for….at least half this squad are mediocre at best. I’m looking to season 24/25.
Depressing state of affairs at city since 21st May 2017. Failure to back the management team for a big push and keeping the majority of a good squad together was the root cause of the years of steady decline.
We all know this. It’s getting boring talking about it now. I’m all out of ideas. We’re a stagnant club. With stagnant ideas and seemingly no executable plan for progress. So much is based on luck and hope
We probably needed hughes out given where things had got to. But why did things get so bad. Wrong players in wrong positions is a part of it. Anyhow. We are now here we have to hope once more the next appointment brings a strong and knowledgable team of coaches assistants fitness coaches with good contacts to help us on the loan market come January.
Sigh.
Well, what a pretty pass! I was at Sutton and it was nothing less than surrender.Nothing to do with McDonald;he has done wonders with the hand he was dealt. Nor is it Rupp;he has never pretended to be a football man and has allowed others to determine the Strategy and put his hand in his pocket when required. I am dissapopinted that for all his bluster, we have heard nothing from Sparkes; chirping when he was redesigning the club badge and pontificating about Values et al…but no delivery aprt from a decent commercial performance. That will not save the club, nor will allowing Sparkes to make another Football decision with zero football experience apart from the last 3 years where he has signally failed. The football being played is poor, the VP matchday experience is dire (massive waits to get served at half time, if at all, and poor stewarding). Take your time Mr Sparkes, ask real football people for advice and stop this managerial merry go round; we are becoming a laughing stock and eroding the “Brand” built up by Jewell and Parky who knew what they were doing, even when they had poor leadership from the top at times . Enough is enough.
