It is now more than a decade since Bradford City graced the Premier League. Since then the Club have been relegated on three separate occasions and last season finished in the lower reaches of Football League 2.
Supporters group Friends of Bradford City (FOBC) have decided to seek divine intervention from the spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who is always seen regaled in the Clubs colours of claret and amber.
Mark Neale leader of the FOBC stated, “We are extremely honoured that His Holiness the Dalai Lama has found time in his busy schedule to accept the position of Honorary President of the Friends of Bradford City. We sincerely hope that his positive support for our Club will help with a change of fortune on the field next season.”
In recognition of his support, the group presented the Dalai Lama with a claret and amber Bradford City shirt with his name and Number 14 on it.
The current Dalai Lama (Tenzin Gyatso) is the 14th Dalai Lama and is both Head of State and the Spiritual Leader of Tibet.
The presentation took place at the Yorkshire International Business Convention in Leeds on Friday 15th June.
