Ryan Dickson signs for Bradford City

By Jason McKeown

Southampton left back Ryan Dickson will tomorrow sign for Bradford City on loan until the end of the season. The 26-year-old began his career at Plymouth Argyle (when they were in the Championship) and made a name for himself at Brentford, earning a £125k move to the Saints three years ago. He has found opportunities difficult to come by on the South coast, and has not figured at all this season.

Dickson will provide cover for James Meredith who is expected to be back shortly, and fits the bill of what Phil Parkinson appears to be looking for in the majority of his loan signings this season – offering a back up option. Despite another loanee Curtis Good performing well midweek, expect Dickson to start against Oxford should Meredith not be fit.

  1. Don’t need loan players, need permanent signings.

  2. Re: loan with a view to permanent – I’m not sure whether a 26 year old with a record of playing at higher levels would want to play second fiddle to Meredith (or vice versa since Meredith had opportunites to sign for teams higher up the football league) so I would have thought a permanent capture unlikely. Good looked okay for cover at LB is he on short term only?
