On 22nd May 2016, I published an article about the takeover of Bradford City and the departure of the two chairmen, Julian Rhodes and Mark Lawn. When referring to Lawn, I included the sentence “The way he and Roger Owen hounded out McCall the manager was deeply unpleasant”. Having had contact from Roger Owen recently, and following comments in the Telegraph & Argus on 28th May clarifying there was no fall out, I fully accept I was completely wrong to report this misinformation and that this claim was false.
I would like to sincerely apologise to Roger Owen and Mark Lawn for the distress caused by my article and for harming their character and reputation in any way. The article has now been amended to remove this reference.
I am happy to emphasise in the strongest possible terms that – to be the best of my knowledge – they played absolutely no part in McCall’s decision to stand down as manager of Bradford City in February 2010.
