Thanks for this. I agree that, with the available players and fitness levels, Alexander came up with a very credible game plan….and for a crucial period in the second half, COULD have got us over the line, to either penalties, or even conceivably, a win. But luck, some strong goal keeping/ Bolton defending…and the width of a post…just went against us. Such fine margins. But in our heart of hearts, we know we were beaten by a stronger side. But, as the post match reaction showed, this team let no one down. A heroic, battling squad.
As you say, too soon to turn our thoughts to the retained list and summer recruitment. But i pondered as I listened (and write this having listened so far to 6 minutes, so you may go onto say the same thing!), psychologically are we where we were at the end of last season, or the one when we failed in the L2 play offs, under Mark Hughes? Will we come back in August with a hangover having gone out with a damp squid in the play offs- or catapulted by an end of season momentum?
i think closer to the latter. I see no reason for a hangover. And whilst i wouldn’t bank on the scorching, all-conquering form at the start of the season just finished, it feels like we should come back with confidence. And why not a bit of swagger? We should fear no team.
