The Width of a Post podcast #60: Retained List 2024!

The new Width of a Post podcast is now available!

It’s been a difficult end to the season for the Bantams, who look set to finish in the bottom half of the table. With the focus beginning to shift to an important close season, in this edition of the podcast, Jason McKeown, Tim Penfold and Alex Scott discuss the state of the squad and the decisions the club faces over 12 out of contract senior players.

Also in this episode::

  • Does David Sharpe’s arrival suggest better times ahead?
  • Is Graham Alexander the man to take the Bantams forward?
  • Was Tim right about Bobby?
  • When was the last time Bradford City had a true leader on the pitch?

With apologises for some sounds issues. We’re forcing Jason to fork out for a decent microphone!

Now available in more places!

You can now find us on Spotify, Google Podcasts and Amazon Music! Plus we’re still available on Soundcloud and iTunes.

  1. I really used to enjoy listening to the podcast and the balanced nature in which it was delivered, however I could hardly make it to 5 minutes into this before I switched off.I understand we all have our opinions on recent times and varying sense of humour but likening the GA video to a hostage video just switched me off the podcast, add to that the incessant nature of Tims twitter posts and I’ve quickly found that the website I once relied on for my Bradford City news etc. is no longer WOAP.

  2. Why not re-sign Elliot Watt in the summer who is out of contract at Salford?

    • Perhaps because he wasn’t really that impressive whilst here? He’s had nil impact on the fortunes of the Manc millionaire club and we need to sign players with a bit of resolve and commitment.

      • I think we’d have fared better with watt in the team tis year and last. Need to get away from re-signing players who chose to leave us though.

      • Eliott Watt 22/23: Team of the year, PFA Fans Player of the Year, 15 assists.

Salford are struggling this year conceding the most goals in the division but saying Elliot Watt hasn’t had an impact is probably wide of the mark and judged on struggling league form alone- unless you’re watching Salford regularly. It’s probably like saying Brad Halliday hasn’t had an impact at Bradford City.

I disagree on him not being impressive when he was here. As a 22 year old he was very good but not quite polished. 2 years on, Salford captain I imagine he’s matured. I’d take him back here but dependent on the balance of our midfield I’d hope the defensive side of his game has improved as I imagine he’d be at the base of the midfield.

      • Hope we find someone with Elliot Watt’s “nil impact”.

  3. Great podcast – really enjoyed it. Many thanks.

Let’s see what next season brings!
