I DON’T LIKE MATCHDAYS

The season ticket inside my hand is for the Midland Road

But I don’t really want to go today, I think I’d rather stay at home

My wife doesn’t understand me and I may be getting old

But I can see no reason halfway through the season ,what reason is there to go, oh oh.

Tell me why, I don’t like matchdays, tell me why I don’t like matchdays

Tel me why I don’t like matchdays I want to boot the whole day down.

The keeper’s sheet isn’t kept so clean with the soft goals we give away

And the midfield’s blocked, confidence is rocked. But at least we’ve brought back Doyle to the squad

If he could score sixteen for his Bradford team like he scored for the Swindon side

But he gets no passes I can’t see the passes and he’s drifting back and wide.

Tell me why I don’t like matchdays, I want to boot the whole day down.

And when the playings stopped and the points are dropped we can all go home for a while

Some left early ‘cos they saw too clearly that the lesson today had not been learnt.

Players play with shackles and can’t make tackles And Gary’s problems grow in size

But he can see no reason, been the same all season and the league table does not lie.

Still the season ticket inside my hand gets me into Midland Road

And I keep on going though not really knowing why I’m not staying at home.

Nobody understands me and I really feel the cold

But I’ll be there all season though it defies all reason

And there’s next season’s tickets to be sold.
